Bedford Area Elementary School

Bedford, PA - 115,000 sq. ft. - $

Bedford Area School District (BASD) administrators decided it was time for renovations to its elementary school since it had not been upgraded since the school’s inauguration in 1996. BASD’s proposal for a total overhaul of the MEP systems was realized with state-of-the-art, complex yet cost effective, energy efficient designs by our team of professional engineers.

The old boilers will be replaced and upgraded to a high efficiency geothermal system with energy recovery units. This transition will result in dramatically reducing energy usage and carbon emissions, increased comfort and superior air quality, and over a 50 percent increase in the life-cycle of the equipment.

Another point of emphasis was the replacement and upgrade of the electrical systems. Our designs specialized in a daylight harvesting system which maximizes natural lighting thereby reducing and increasing the electric lighting when needed. The result is long term energy and cost savings, return on investment, and increased productivity among students as some studies have shown.
