If you want an employee who embodies commitment, longevity, and loyalty, look no further than to our senior project manager, Kurt.
At 13 years old, Kurt started as a lawn care operator who cut the grass around the original Gatter & Diehl office on Front Street in Harrisburg looking to make a quick buck on the weekends as a kid. Fast forward to today, he’s still with us at Gatter & Diehl, but instead of mowing the lawn, he’s now overseeing multi-million dollar projects.
For over 30 years, Kurt kept climbing the ranks at Gatter & Diehl to get where he is today. He’s learned and grown as a professional from the best in the industry to get to this point in his career.
“I have worked with a lot of people over the years at Gatter & Diehl, and I have learned something from everyone,” said Kurt. “From mowing grass, to a manual draftsman, to a cad technician, running the scanner division in the 1980's, to a cad manager and now a project manager, I’ve experienced it all. Working here for this long has been a really big accomplishment of mine, and I’m proud to work for such a great company.”
Kurt’s role now as senior project manager comes with a lot of responsibilities that include the handling of day-to-day practices to oversee the construction phase of a project such as billing, invoicing, permits, change order approvals, and much more. To ensure everything runs smoothly during a project, Kurt follows three simple steps; Organization, attention to detail, and above all else, communication.
“I think communication is one of the most important aspects of my job,” explained Kurt. “I have to be able to talk to and explain systems or issues to a greenhorn contractor, township supervisor, right up to the president of a multi-billion dollar company and everyone in-between.”
During this time of crisis, Kurt, along with all of our employees, had to adapt to the current situation to meet our high expectation of unsurpassed service. For someone like Kurt, who is hands on at construction sites, he had to go above and beyond in making sure everything was accomplished by going the extra mile in communicating to all parties involved. His experience and ability to communicate at a high level assisted him in completing all of his daily tasks and duties to ensure the construction process of a project was to complete satisfactory and met the high standards we set for ourselves.
Besides for being one of the best project managers in the industry, Kurt is also a fantastic graphic arts designer. He’s been in the field for over 25 years, even owning a part-time business and enjoys every aspect of it. He also loves to watch auto racing, hockey, and spending time with his family. He’s particularly excited about his daughter who will be a senior in high school in the upcoming school year, and he’s looking forward to his daughter having a bright and successful future.
Kurt is a hardworking, self-motivated individual who constantly strives for success. We’re very honored to have someone like Kurt stay with us for such a long time and his contributions to the company have been unmatched. We’re proud to see him have such a successful career with us.
