For over five years our BIM/CAD Design Specialist, Maria, has been extraordinary in her ability to graphically convey the designs of buildings and their systems while following industry standards for the successful coordination of specifications and construction of functional, efficient and safe buildings for their future occupants. Her expertise in this field is unparalleled because of her lifelong passion for graphic arts which she attributes to her success in the industry.

 

“I was inspired to become a professional in the industry because of my graphic arts interests,” noted Maria. “I’ve always been fascinated by the complexities of achieving the construction of buildings with so many trades and people involved from the graphic point of view.”

 

During Maria’s time with Gatter & Diehl, she’s utilized various technologies to produce numerous construction documents for projects which were both challenging and unique. That ultimately assisted her growth in developing and improving on different methods of drafting, design and overall solutions to various tasks that she’s performed in her career in addition to gaining a much better appreciation of the process of starting a project from start to finish.

 

“A big advantage of design is following the process of the construction of a building from concept to completion and sometimes even visiting the building after being occupied,” she explained. “Knowing what’s behind doors and ceilings and knowing the reason for some of the features are from what we designed is very interesting and enlightening.”

 

As much as Maria enjoys drafting and coming up with solutions to assist her coworkers, she’s just as creative and hands on outside of her working space. She loves art and DIY projects as well as reading and spending time with her family.
