When Gatter & Diehl expanded its operation to Bedford 15 years ago, it started off as a small support office with only two employees for the headquarters in Mechanicsburg. One of those two employees is still with us today and has seen the transformation grow to a fully operational design office. That person is our BIM/CAD Design Specialist, Mike.

“It’s really enjoyable to have a complete staff at our Bedford office now,” explained Mike. “We’ve gone from two employees when I started, to nine as of today. I have a great working relationship with all my co-workers and it’s nice being a team player and assisting with whatever needs done to complete a project.”

For a decade and a half, Mike has produced construction documents involving HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing design information from our engineers utilizing the latest versions of AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to be sent out to the contractor.

Aside from his tenure with Gatter & Diehl, Mike’s been associated with computer aid drafting since his high school days. He enrolled in a drafting class where there was only one computer with AutoCAD. He was able to use it and enjoyed it so much he decided to enter into college for computer aid drafting and design. He’s also been in the HVAC industry since high school installing HVAC ductwork during the summers.

“I’ve been doing this for over 25 years now,” said Mike. “Although I’ve been working with AutoCAD for a long time, we have so many different projects we get to do, so it’s not the same thing over and over again. Fortunately for me, Gatter & Diehl also does a great job in keeping up with the constant changes to the software I use, so I’m able to relearn everything I need to do the best possible job I can do. “

Outside of work, Mike is the ultimate outdoorsman. He spends most of his leisure time hunting and fishing, and doing other various outdoor activities with his family and friends.

Mike’s strong commitment shows the importance of taking a skill you love to do and developing that skill to accomplish incredible goals. We’re very proud of his contributions to the company including his joyful and friendly demeanor around the office which makes for a relaxed and happy atmosphere. We wish nothing but the best for his continued success in the future.
