The Greater Nanticoke Area School District's vision of a revamped and modernized elementary school was realized with the implementation of the new Kennedy Early Childhood Center. Renovations to the old elementary school plus a 26,000 sq. ft. addition was designed to ensure the best possible environment for children to learn and develop.

 

Via the architects at EI Associates, Gatter & Diehl engineered an energy efficient HVAC traditional water source heat pump system which is designed to condition the entire building. Daylight harvesting controls were implemented to maximize energy efficiency as well.

 

The project added an additional 21 classrooms, a principal’s office, a nurse’s suite, a conference room, a handicap accessible entrance, a cafeteria, and a large group instruction room. The facility was also accredited with a LEED Silver certification.
