The Summa Rehabilitation Hospital is located on the Akron City Hospital Campus. Gatter & Diehl was engaged to provide engineering designs for this 60 private bed, three-story inpatient facility. The hospital is a state-of-the-art facility offering a host of programs, including rehabilitation space, radiology, pharmacy services, administration offices, and additional spaces.

 

The facility incorporates high efficiency lighting, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation, along with water saving plumbing fixtures and integrates to all other healthcare code requirements. Attention to detail of integrating the MEP/FP systems was critical in maintaining a comfortable "non-institution" feel to all spaces. Natural light provides a connection to the natural environment that also serves to enhance the healing environment.
