UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital

Bedford, PA - 130,000 sq. ft. - $2.1 Million

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) selected Gatter & Diehl to perform a complete emergency power systems upgrade to their Bedford hospital facility. Portions of the emergency power system were as old as the 1950's.

Following completion, the entire critical, life safety, and equipment power distribution systems were upgraded throughout the hospital. New switch gear, panels, transfer switches, feeders, breakers, branch circuits, and even receptacles were upgraded. All OR's were upgraded too, with new feeders and internal power systems as a part of the project.

The hospital also realized the added reliability of a redundant backup generator system, with complete load monitoring and control software integration. Circuiting throughout the system was re-organized to comply with code requirements and labeling of all essential systems equipment was completed during the course of the project.
